Tacacá

Hi, my name is Gabriel and I'm from Brazil. Yes! The country of tacacá... wait, don't you know what tacacá is? Let me explain.

Tacacá is a typical dish of the Amazonian Region whose origin is indigenous. It’s prepared with a yellow syrup called ‘’tucupi’’. This syrup is put on top of manioc gum, ‘’jambu’’ (a regional weed that causes numbness in the mouth), and dry shrimp. It’s served very hot, sometimes peppered, in gourds.

Tacacá's origin probably came from ‘’mani poi’’, a soup appreciated by the indigenous for a long time before the arrival of Europeans in the region. And, the first writing that mentions Tacacá dates back to the the 16th century.

Today, this soup is scattered in Brazil, so when you visit my country, you can eat it in other regions too!
