Have you ever met anyone who has to cross an international border to get to school? Well if you haven’t, that is me.
Every single day I have to wake up at 5:30 am, 5:40 am if I’m lucky. You may wonder, why do you have to wake up so early to get to school? Well I go to a school in San Diego, USA. San Diego has a border with Tijuana, Mexico, where I currently live. So every single day from Monday to Friday I wake up to the sound of my alarm. Most of the time I don’t even want to get out of bed, but as time passes by, I leave my lazy side. My morning routine goes something like this. I wake up and have breakfast, and after that I wait patiently for my carpool.
We cross the border with our sentri cards and head over to school. With the long time we usually have to wait to cross the border, our drive to school can sometimes become an hour and a half long. I’ve been doing this morning routine since the seventh grade, and even though I might not like it sometimes, crossing the border will always have a very special place in my heart. So if you ever wonder, what it is like crossing the border every day to get to school. This is it.
